Luann Fair

Luann Fair, owner and director of the Buddy Sherwood School of Dance, began dancing at the age of five under the direction of her father Buddy Sherwood.  Every summer of her childhood was spent touring the country with her dad and family at national dance conventions.  Luann eventually served as a teacher at some of those very same conventions.  Now, Luann continues to take dance workshops to further enhance her knowledge of technique and style in the ever-expanding world of dance.   With more than three decades of teaching experience Luann is truly blessed to share her love of dance with children.

Luann shares credit with her talented team of teachers for training students who have won regional and national dance competitions and perform for local charities.
The Buddy Sherwood School of dance has been open for more than 50 years.  Luann says continuing the family business is an honor and one she would like to see keep going through one of her three children.

Dana Ortmayer

Dana Bowen-Ortmayer began dancing at age 3. She has studied ballet, pointe, jazz, tap, contemporary, character and African dance. Dana is a graduate of Douglas Anderson School of the Arts and has had the pleasure of working with many amazing teachers and choreographers. Because of her appreciation of all styles of dance, Dana was invited to become an assistant ballroom teacher at Jacksonville University’s Continuing Education Center where she taught several styles of ballroom dance, including Fox Trot, Waltz, Tango, Swing, Cha Cha, Hustle, Rumba and Mambo. Dana joined Buddy Sherwood School of Dance in 2000. She enjoys bringing over 25 years of experience, technique and an innovative style to students. Dana believes that the benefits of dance are endless. “Dance has had a significant impact on my life and personal character. Dance not only teaches technical and performance skills, but also instills self confidence, grace, and poise.”

Allie Fair

Allie Fair was born and raised in Jacksonville, Florida. She has been dancing for the past 19 years and hopes to keep going for many more. Allie has been a dance instructor for six years. The Buddy Sherwood School of dance is a family run-business and that’s exactly how Allie wants to keep it! She hopes to own and operate the studio one day just like her mother and grandfather have for more than five decades. Allie has competed in national dance competitions where she has brought home regional and national titles. Allie also has a passion for performing at charity events around the city. Allie was also part of the DanceWorks Dance Ensemble at FSCJ and is now in her 3rd season as a Jacksonville Jaguars ROAR cheerleader. Around the community, Allie has choreographed the opening number for numerous high school pageants and most recently became the Pageant Director for Stanton College Preparatory School. Dance is a huge part of Allie’s life but she also enjoys, shopping, anything on or near the water and hanging out with her family and friends.

“Dancing is like dreaming with your feet!”
